Saint Surf was created on July 25, 2023—an important date that happens to coincide with both Saint Christopher Day and Guanacaste Day. We see this as a perfect example of "divine timing," though we had no knowledge of either holiday when the brand was first formed.

The concept of the brand actually began 20 years ago, in 2003, inspired by the waves of the New Jersey shore. Surfing in the Northern Atlantic is different from other places, but one thing remained constant—surfing is a risky sport. Whether you were a seasoned pro or a 'kook,' divine protection was always welcome. Saint Christopher, the patron saint of travelers by air, land, and sea, is worn by surfers and sailors all around the world. His legacy of protection has always resonated with us.
When We Started

This lifelong dream finally came to life in full scope in 2023. The more we explored Saint Christopher’s story, the more fascinated we became. We were especially intrigued by how The Vatican is attempting to remove his legacy from the "14 Holy Helpers," a tradition that’s been around for the past seven centuries. The more we researched, the more we found that his depictions can be found on every continent and in every country—from statues to church names, to street names, islands, and even cities. His influence is everywhere, and we believe he embodies what we represent. To us, he is "Saint Surf." A saint who brings peace of mind, safe passage, calming waters and winds, and a loving concern for all people and their unique journeys.

Choosing to come to Guanacaste, Costa Rica, was a big decision for us. We quickly learned that many people visit the area to TAKE, but not many come to GIVE. When we thought about the sacredness of this land, and the fact that it’s a Blue Zone, we knew we had a purpose here. Bringing this brand, these sacred formulas, the healing and protective properties, and the shift in mindset felt like our mission—moreover, like our offering. Costa Ricans have a deep affinity for their saints, and much of the country considers themselves religious. Bringing a Saint-oriented brand to this space felt very appropriate, both for Ticos (native Costa Ricans) and for the many tourists alike who come to the area.

Saint Surf is our offering to the majestic vortex of Guanacaste, and we’re proud to call this place our home-base—and soon, our flagship location—in this special Costa Rican province.
We have an undying passion for organic and sustainable living, and with 25 years of experience in fine goods, wellness, cosmetics, and jewelry, we knew we had to approach conscientious living from a new angle. We wanted to ensure our approach was in harmony with nature, allowing us to give back and make a meaningful difference in our beautiful world today.
